Executive Council Positions and Descriptions

There are nine positions on the ASBSU Executive Council, all with unique responsibilities and duties. Five of these positions are elected in the Annual Student Elections, four are hired after elections have taken place.

The Elected Positions

President

The President is the leader and head of the Executive Council, setting the goals and direction of ASBSU. The President also executes all legislation, code, and regulations adopted by ASBSU. The President will appoint ASBSU personnel as necessary to ensure the functionality of ASBSU and also serve as the supervisor for all hired ASBSU personnel. Finally, the President serves as the main liaison between ASBSU and the University Administration.

Works at least 20 hours a week at a rate of $12.50 per hour.

Vice President

The Vice President assists the President in all their duties. The Vice President also serves as head and representative of the Student Assembly and serves as the main liaison between that body and the Executive Council.

Works up to 20 hours a week at a rate of $11.50 per hour.

Secretary of Academic Affairs

The Secretary of Academic Affairs is the primary student representative on all topics pertaining to academics. The Secretary of Academic Affairs sits on multiple different academic committees across campus and advocates for various initiatives to better student academic success. This is also the only student that sits on the Faculty Senate representing ASBSU and student voice.

Works up to 10 hours a week at a rate of $10 per hour.

 

 

Secretary of Student Organization Affairs

The Secretary of Student Organization Affairs is the primary representative of student organizations on campus. The Secretary of Student Organization Affairs chairs the Student Funding Board, a body which allocates university funds to campus clubs and organizations.

 

Works up to 10 hours a week at a rate of $10 per hour.

 

 

Vice President of Inclusive Excellence

The Vice President of Inclusive Excellence (VPIE) serves as the liaison between the Executive Council and the Inclusive Excellence Student Council (IESC) for the Associated Students of Boise State University (ASBSU). VPIE works with the Executive Council to advise decision making and discussions based on ideas and values of the IESC. They also work with the IESC in doing policy projects on campus and facilitating workshops and discussions in classrooms and student organizations with fellow IESC members.

Works up to 15 hours a week at a rate of $10 per hour.
